Electrical Design Engineer
A quick look here can change lives!
Autoliv is the worldwide leader in automotive safety systems. We develop, manufacture and market protective solutions such as airbags, seatbelts, and steering wheels for all major automotive manufacturers worldwide, along with advanced safety solutions for new mobility. In 2025, our products helped save approximately 40,000 lives and prevented around 600,000 serious injuries. Driven by our mission to save lives, we are now expanding our organization by building a new team within Electrical Safety Solutions. To support this growth, we are looking for an Electrical Design Engineer in HVDC/MVDC to join our team and contribute to the next generation of automotive safety technology.
Role and Responsibilites
As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will be part of a growing team in Vårgårda developing advanced HVDC/MVDC applications that protect systems used for producing, storing, and converting electrical energy. These applications include energy transmission and converter stations, as well as energy storage systems, and more, both for medium- and high-voltage environments.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Designing and developing electrical solutions for HVDC/MVDC switchgear that protect other equipment in the system
Responsible for and performing high-voltage testing and verification in our newly established HV test laboratory
Contributing to the electrical design of fast-acting, pyrotechnically triggered switching solutions
Ensuring compliance with applicable industry standards and internal safety requirements
Supporting product development through simulation, testing, and design reviews
Actively contributing to the technical strategy and future roadmap for Electrical Safety Solutions
Who Are You?
You are motivated by technical challenges and want to contribute to next-generation safety solutions in high-voltage applications. You enjoy hands-on testing as well as analytical work.
Required qualifications:
B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or a related field
Interest in high-voltage systems, power electronics, or energy applications
A structured and curious approach to problem-solving
Good communication skills and a willingness to collaborate and ask questions
Experience is an advantage but not a requirement – we value potential, motivation and the desire to learn just as much as previous hands-on experience.
We will be more than glad to chat with you about your experience and your career goals.
