Biomechanics Senior Engineer for Human Body Modelling
A quick look here can save lives!
Join Autoliv in Saving More Lives!
Autoliv Research is looking for a Biomechanics Senior Engineer for the Research Simulation team with a focus on Human Body Modelling. Research at Autoliv is a global function, involving activities and colleagues world-wide, while run from Vårgårda in Sweden.
Our vision “Saving More Lives” is our driving force. We work to make Vision Zero a reality, developing tools and methods for safety system evaluations and development based on real-life data from in-depth accident databases, on-road and simulator test data, and user clinics. We run our own short- and long-term projects but also collaborate with universities and other companies in nationally- and EU-funded research projects. Our research is focused within four main areas: Biomechanics, Traffic Safety Analysis, Human Factors and Digital Innovation. Autoliv Research defines the future of safe and sustainable mobility.
Assignment
As a Biomechanics Senior Engineer within Autoliv Research you
- Conduct research independently, i.e. develop and maintain a firm understanding of the state of the art, then create and document new knowledge.
- Lead internal research projects, i.e. define and manage the project including budget, time and quality.
- Take lead in writing applications for external funded projects.
- Collaborate, i.e. interact with project engineers in the D & E organization and fellow research engineers in the R organization.
- Author several scientific publications per year, often as first author and become an externally recognized contributor to scientific progress.
- Develop precise work descriptions from vague areas interests.
- Produce accurate results within short time on familiar topics.
- Carry out thorough validation of the results to guarantee accuracy.
- Identify the need for new tools and methods required to better carry out work on existing topics and to tackle new areas.
Advancing the state of the art in Human Body Models (HBMs) and injury prediction, your initial tasks are centered on delivering on the project Enhancing Female and Male SAFER HBM Torso Injury Prediction (Injury-HBM Step 5; link). You are developing new rib and material models for SAFER HBM based on recent biomechanical references, to be integrated with full body HBM morphing, enabling modelling male and female occupants of all sizes. You also carry out model validations. You will work with Machine Learning (ML) to further develop risk predictions for occupants (stochastic training data simulations, ML risk modelling).
Qualifications
- You communicate fluently in English; further language skills are an asset
- You have a PhD degree in Science or Engineering and a sound body of peer-reviewed publications and have presented at conferences
- You have experience in statistical modelling and Machine Learning; at least regression methods
- Experience with programming and scripting (MATLAB and/or Python and similar)
- You are results-oriented and pragmatic
Preferably, you have experience with
- Finite element methods and dynamic crash simulations - LS-dyna, pre and post processing (ANSA, HyperMesh, Oasys Primer, Metamost, Animator, LS-Prepost)
- Occupant crash safety, crash testing and simulations
